Please join us on Saturday evening December 6th when singer/songwriter Tracy Grammer headlines Brotherhood's 2nd annual Folk Coffee House.
| “ |
Tracy Grammer is a brilliant artist and unique individual. Her
voice is distinctive, as is her mastery over the instruments she
plays.”
-- Joan Baez |
| “ |
One of the most compelling new voices in contemporary
folk… Grammer is an outstanding singer and fiddler, and every
performance… exemplifies the quiet strength, refined
sensitivity, and consummate skill she is known for.”
-- Sing Out! Magazine |
| “ |
Music for me is a language like no other; it is my channel of
authenticity. I know I'd only be telling half the truth without it…”
-- Tracy Grammer |
Tracy Grammer rose to acclaim for her work as half of the folk duo Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer and for the solo career that she has continued since Carter's death. She released three albums with Dave Carter during his lifetime, at first doing instrumental work and providing backing vocals, and then, by their last album together, singing lead vocals on half of the tracks. Two albums by the duo have been released following Carter's death. She has also released three solo recordings, some of which have included previously unreleased songs by Carter. For more information about Tracy and her music, see www.tracygrammer.com.
Grammer is backed up by Jim Henry (www.jimhenry.net) who plays "as a David Rawlings to Tracy Grammer, whose career performing the songs of her late partner Dave Carter is much enriched by Jim's direct, honest string work, harmonies, and production." Henry is currently performing his own music and covers of other well known artists, including Richard Thompson's extraordinary song "1952 Vincent Black Lightning".
Grammer will perform two sets, starting at 8:00 PM, with an intermission in between. Doors will open at 7:30 PM. Coffee and a variety of goodies will be on sale. Admission will be free to Temple Isaiah Brotherhood members, and $15 to all others.
To reserve your admission ahead of time (which is recommended), please complete the form below. Please note that, on the night of the performance, reservations will be held until 7:45 PM.
